The record-breaking ball control master, Erick Hernández, surpassed another world record this Saturday at the Copacabana hotel in the Cuban capital.
This time he managed to keep the ball in the air for 12 hours, six minutes and ten seconds to surpass the 12-hour record held by Iranian Saeid Momivand.
The feat required El Dominador to keep the sphere suspended from morning until late at night, which demands, in addition to skill, extraordinary physical preparation.
"This record demands very rigorous preparation and tremendous discipline with training. In reality, the work to achieve it begins long before those 12 hours: it requires many more hours of preparation," he commented to JIT.
At 57 years of age he continues setting records that require such different skills as strength, explosiveness, speed and endurance.
To this grueling test he adds others such as controlling the ball from a sitting position, with one and a half kilograms of weight attached to each foot, for three hours and four minutes; touching the ball with his head 341 times in one minute; hitting the ball in the air for one hour, nine minutes and 50 seconds; and controlling the ball with his thighs for one hour and 28 minutes.
Several of Hernández's records are documented in the Guinness Book of Records. This one could be officially recognized as well.
