Amid strong rumors about the death of Cuban reggaeton artist José Manuel Carvajal Zaldívar, known artistically as El Taiger, his legal team confirmed that the musician continues fighting for his life at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami after suffering a gunshot wound to the head on October 3rd.

"El Taiger is medically alive," said the artist's legal representative in a statement at 6:00 pm.

"The situation is very complex, very delicate, since we still don't have clarity about what happened," explained the spokesperson, who added that the musician's family remains in Cuba, awaiting a humanitarian visa.

He explained that the hospital cannot provide information to anyone who is not a close family member, which is why the presence of a family member in the country is urgent.

"The situation is serious and although we hold onto a small hope, we are also preparing for any eventuality," he said at the end of his statement.

For several days, the severity of the artist's condition has shaken the Cuban music community and his followers around the world, who have been following closely his progress since he was hospitalized in critical condition last Thursday.

It also dominated headlines in several media outlets in Cuba, the United States, and Spain, where his song La Historia was the song of two consecutive summers.

El Taiger, for many the most important reggaeton singer of his generation in Cuba, is admitted to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where his health condition is critical after the bullet affected part of his brain.

On October 7th, Miami police offered a reward of $5,000 for information leading to the capture of Damián Valdez-Galloso, alias "El Narra," the main suspect in the attack against El Taiger.

According to police, there is evidence that rules out the theory of an attempted suicide and points to Valdez-Galloso, who has a criminal record, as a key person of interest in the investigation. He is currently at large.
