Cuban catcher Yasmani Grandal defined the matchup, in which the Chicago White Sox and the Tampa Bay Rays faced off, with a single in the tenth inning so that his team won 8-7, in the third game of the series between American League division leaders that won 2-1.

Another Cuban player, first baseman José Pito Abreu connected his twelfth home run of the season for the White Sox, who have won 10 of their last 13 games.

His compatriot, third baseman Yandy Díaz and catcher Mike Zunino also hit the ball out of the park, but they did it with the Rays, who won Monday's game but lost the next two.

Abreu advanced with a groundout to automatic runner Andrew Vaughn to third base and Grandal brought him home with his hit to the right field wall against reliever Pete Fairbanks (1-1).

Ryan Burr (1-0) worked a scoreless tenth inning to get the victory.

Starter Lucas Giolito retired the first 10 batters he faced, almost all with fly balls, until Cuban designated hitter Randy Arozarena connected a double in the fourth inning.

The pitcher who started the game on the mound with the Rays, Ryan Yarbrough, allowed seven runs, five earned, with 10 hits and one walk in six and a third innings of work on the mound.

Once again timely and productive Latino batting was present on both teams with Díaz going 3-1, two runs scored and two RBIs for the Rays, plus the RBI contributed by Dominican Manuel Margot who went 4-1.

While for the White Sox, Abreu went 5-1 with one run scored and two RBIs, Grandal went 4-1 with one run scored and two RBIs and Dominican Leury García 4-1 with one run scored.
