Cuban baseball player José "Pito" Abreu, Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the past season, hit his first Grand Slam of the Major League season in a game between his team, the Chicago White Sox, against the Los Angeles Angels.

The home run with the bases loaded by the Cienfuegos native was recorded in the third inning of the game and helped put the scoreboard at 4-1 in favor of Chicago.

With this hit, José "Pito" Abreu demonstrates the reasons why he was chosen in the past 2020 championship as the Most Valuable Player of the American League, a title that he will surely seek to defend this year, especially when his team, the Chicago White Sox, is one of the favorites to reach the World Series.

José "Pito" Abreu became the third Cuban in MLB history to win the distinction of Most Valuable Player, as he was preceded by Caribbean players Zoilo "El Zorro" Versalles and José Canseco who obtained the award in 1965 and 1988, respectively. He is also the fourth player in Chicago White Sox history to achieve it.

In 2020, Pito Abreu also won the Hank Aaron Award, which honors the best batter of the season thanks to the impressive numbers achieved during the regular season of the Major Leagues, which was shortened due to the pandemic.
