Cuban actor Carlos Enrique Almirante plays Nomar in the film 'Jaula de Coyote' ('Coyote Cage', by its English name), which premiered on September 22 at the Albuquerque Film Festival in Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States.

Carlos Enrique embodies a negative protagonist character in the thriller that tells the experiences of a group of migrants seeking to cross the southern border of the United States, but who are kidnapped in Mexico by a 'coyote' (which is the popular term for human traffickers).

Thus, transitioning from heartthrob to 'coyote', the 40-year-old actor brings us closer to the experience of thousands of migrants who currently risk their lives to achieve the American dream, whether or not they know the danger they are exposing themselves to.

According to what Carlos Enrique revealed to Telemundo about his participation in the feature film that is soon to be presented on Amazon Prime, "my character is the antagonist", the one who "kidnaps a group of migrants and takes them to a supposedly safe house". "Everything ends very badly there," he summarized.

Surprised by this experience, because it's new for him to work in a horror film, which "has a lot of blood," he stated that "I didn't expect it would come so soon to clash with this, to make the crossover (in cinematic terms it refers to an interrelation of stories or characters from different works in the same one)".

In this way, the Cuban is making his way into the English-language market just when the United States, where he has lived for three years, is experiencing the worst migration crisis in its history.

"Sometimes you think the 'coyote' is going to help you and that you're in good hands, but no. They take you to a house where you think you're safe and they torture you to death, if your family doesn't give the money or doesn't respond," lamented the artist when referring to how human trafficking works in Mexico.

Although he acknowledged that migrants "throw themselves" at all kinds of dangers because the situation in their countries of origin "leads them to do so," he emphasized that their lives hang "by a thread".

"I think it's something that should be brought more to the screen," something that "the public should know more about," added Carlos Enrique before confessing that "you have to be careful" when portraying a character based on reality, as he has had to do in 'Jaula de Coyote'.

According to what he told, while preparing to play Nomar, one day he was eating with some friends and "one of them, who was texting with family and with the 'coyote' who was crossing them," had to "go to Western Union" because they had demanded he send more money. "He was super nervous, super tense," he recalled with regret.
