Cuban Ana de Armas is back in the news in the world of cinema, but this time not for appearing in a new film, but for being removed from Yesterday, a 2019 musical from which the scenes where the actress appears were deleted, although she is featured in the trailer.
Two of her fans have filed a lawsuit against Universal Studios after they removed scenes from the film where de Armas appeared.
Conor Woulfe (38 years old), from Maryland and Peter Michael Rosza (44), from San Diego, California, United States, filed the federal class action lawsuit on January 21 alleging that they were deceived into renting the movie at a price of $3.99 on Amazon Prime Video, before discovering that the Cuban actress was not in the final version of Yesterday, reports Variety magazine.
The lawsuit accuses the studio of using misleading advertising and demands compensation of at least 5 million dollars for affected consumers. It also establishes that since viewers or consumers were promised a film with Ana de Armas in the movie trailer, they were provided no value for their rental or purchase.
Yesterday follows Jack Malik (Himesh Patel), an aspiring musician who, after a massive global blackout, becomes a globally famous artist because he is the only living person who remembers the Beatles and performs the songs of the famous English band to gain their fame.
Ana de Armas was chosen as one of the most influential people last year according to Forbes magazine's version for Spain, thanks to the popularity of her most recent Hollywood appearance in the James Bond film No Time to Die.
Among the projects in which the actress is expected to appear in the future is Blonde, where she will play actress Marilyn Monroe, the psychological thriller Deep Water, directed by Adrian Lyne, and The Grey Man, the most recent action production by the Russo Brothers.
