Remedian Dayán Viciedo did it again, achieving the Golden Glove award for the second consecutive year as the best defensive first baseman in the Central League with the Chunichi Dragons, capping off another great season for the Cuban slugger.

Back in 2020, Viciedo had made history as the only Cuban player to win this award, and just hours ago, his team proudly announced through its official Twitter account that the Villa Clara native and two other members of the Nagoya city team were worthy of this important honor.

"On December 2, the winners of the '50th Mitsui Golden Glove Award' 2021 were announced, with Yuya Yanagi in the pitcher category, Dayan Viciedo in first base and Yohei Oshima in the outfield. I inform you that it is already done.

Viciedo obtained his second award and for the second consecutive year, Oshima his ninth for the fourth consecutive year and pitcher Yanagi for the first time."

In this way, after a season in which he played 128 games, all as a first baseman, where he committed 7 errors in 1,132 chances for an excellent .994 fielding average, Viciedo becomes the fourth Latin American player in NPB history to win the Golden Glove in consecutive seasons.

His performance around first base is complemented by a range of 8.79, a total of 84 double plays, 93 assists and 1,032 outs recorded. These numbers, while excellent, fell short of his performance in 2020, although they were sufficient to pull off the feat and establish himself as one of the most complete first basemen in the league.
