Cuban Jhoen Lefont will attempt today to break his own Guinness record for ball control at the Baraguá swimming pool complex in Havana.

The athlete from Matanzas will have to keep the ball balanced on his head without it falling into the water to surpass his current record from September 2019 when he achieved 19 minutes, 03 seconds and 25 hundredths at the pool of the Hotel Nacional de Cuba.

From his Facebook profile, the athlete shared the news and invited anyone who wanted to accompany him to attend the sports facility located in the Villa Panamericana of the capital.

"This Wednesday, September 20, at the Baraguá Swimming Pool Complex, at noon, I will seek to break my record in the longest time controlling a soccer ball balanced on my head while staying afloat in the water (19:02 minutes:seconds), I'll see you all there family," Lefont wrote on the social network.

According to what he commented in a recent interview with the Cuban News Agency (ACN), his preparation for this new attempt has been good.

"At first I worked intermittently because of the birth of my daughter last April, but then I increased the ball control sessions," Lefont said.

The former polo player assured that the final stretch of his training was "excellent," since he had the opportunity to work alongside the national water polo preselection.

His first record certified by the Guinness expert commission was achieved in April 2012, after he struck the ball with his head 1,203 times without it falling into the water.

"Among Lefont's other feats are swimming with the ball for seven minutes, 24 seconds and 60 hundredths, as well as touching it 99 times in a pool while wearing weights on his body," the ACN also notes.
