Lefont achieved a time of 19 minutes, three seconds and 25 hundredths, a record that will enter the Guinness Book of Records as the new world record in this modality for the former water polo athlete.
The event took place in the presence of judges accredited by the International Swimming Federation and other specialists in this type of discipline. Lefont emotionally thanked the support of his family, friends, and the multidisciplinary team that worked on his preparation, as well as the press for the coverage.
I want to dedicate this record to my coach, Jorge del Valle, who always guides me, supports me and gives me enough encouragement to not lose concentration, in order to achieve our objectives, added the athlete.
Lefont's first record was on February 27, 2010, with 534 hits, while he achieved the second mark on November 28 of that same year, with 1,010, according to PL. However, his first record ratified by the Guinness commission of experts was on April 28, 2012, the day he hit the ball with his head on 1,203 occasions.
Other important marks of his include swimming 200 meters while carrying a ball in a time of seven minutes, 24 seconds and 60 hundredths, as well as 99 touches to the ball while carrying a ballast of 15 kilograms in weight.
To finish this year Lefont intends to establish a new record, this time giving the greatest number of possible touches to a sphere while moving, and he will dedicate it to the 500 years of the founding of La Habana.
