Cuban singer Abraham Fernández, known professionally as El Dizzy, died on May 26, 2026, in Miami Beach, Florida, at the age of 25, after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run incident while walking to work.
According to information shared by those close to the family and confirmed by international media, the accident occurred in Miami Beach in the early morning hours. Fernández was walking toward his workplace despite it being his day off when he was hit by a vehicle whose driver fled the scene without stopping to help.
Emergency crews transported the artist to Jackson Trauma Center in Miami, where his death was subsequently confirmed. His father, Jorge Fernández, traveled to the hospital to identify the body, while his mother, who lives in Spain, was unable to make the trip in time due to issues with her documentation.
The Miami Beach Police Department has kept the investigation open, reviewing security camera footage and seeking witnesses to help identify the driver responsible.
El Dizzy was an emerging voice in the Cuban diaspora's urban music scene, blending reggaeton and reparto — a grassroots urban genre from Cuba — with a sound shaped by his experience in Miami. Among his most listened-to songs were "Tu Tu," "Mami tenía razón," and "Canción con riera," which had earned him over 17,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and more than 7,000 followers on Instagram. His death left a deep impact on the Cuban community in Miami and among fans of urban music.
A GoFundMe campaign launched by friends of the family had raised over $16,000 to cover funeral expenses.
