<p>Cuban infielder Yandy Díaz played in his 1,000th career Major League Baseball game on July 22, as the Tampa Bay Rays routed the Toronto Blue Jays 12-2 at Rogers Centre.</p><p>Díaz marked the milestone with a three-run home run in the ninth inning, a 418-foot blast that put the finishing touch on the lopsided win. The designated hitter went 1-for-6 in the game and now has 14 home runs on the season.</p><p>Born in Sagua la Grande, Villa Clara province, Díaz is enjoying one of the best stretches of his career, hitting .312 — among the top four batting averages in the majors — with 60 RBIs and 116 hits in 372 at-bats.</p><p>Díaz, who left Cuba and made his major league debut in 2017, has established himself as one of the most productive Cuban-born players in today's American League.</p>
