The Cuban Institute of Radio and Television (ICRT) today awarded the 2021 National Radio Prize to three prestigious producers from the country: Miozotis Fabelo Pinares, Luis Ismael Rensoli Sánchez and Franklin Reinoso Rivas.
The Director of Communication of Cuban Radio highlighted the exceptional values of all those nominated for the Prize this year and emphasized that the selected recipients accumulate professional virtues that distinguish them within the national radio industry. The presentation of the award will take place this month of August, on the occasion of celebrating the 99th Anniversary of the first continuous broadcasts of said media in the country.
Miozotis Fabelo Pinares is a multi-awarded journalist from Camagüey, the only one in Cuba and in the Central America and Caribbean Region who has received on two consecutive occasions (years 1998 and 1999), the Prize for Journalistic Excellence "Henry Dunant", from the International Red Cross, as a scriptwriter and director in the documentary and testimonial genres.
Since 1991 she began investigating historical topics for the purpose of radio broadcasting in programs for children and young people, on Radio Cadena Agramonte. In the following years this project expanded to Radio Rebelde with the goal of reaching a broader audience.
She has been a member of juries at National Radio Festivals, the National José Martí Prize, the Annual Journalism Prize Juan Gualberto Gómez and President of the National Jury of the Journalism Prize "26 de Julio". Master of Quality in Radio as part of the movement promoted by the Culture Workers' Union. For 20 years she has been a National Vanguard member of the Culture Workers' Union.
She has received more than 500 international, national and provincial awards in Competitions, Festivals, and Conventions, including: Lázaro Peña Order of the First Degree and Ana Betancourt Order from the Council of State; Cuban Radio Microphone; Master Condition of Radio Professionals and Merit Artist Condition of the ICRT.
Luis Ismael Rensoli Sánchez began his work in 1984 on the staff of Radio Rebelde in the Propaganda department, where he was the designer of the station's sound platform and creator of an innovative style for radio production, which earned him praise from specialists and colleagues in the media over the years.
Creator of the signature theme "Cuban Radio: Sound to See"; for years he served as director of the news magazine Haciendo Radio and was founder of the Exclusive news program on Rebelde.
Also Founder of the stations Habana Radio and Radio Taíno, where he produces high-audience programs.
In the year 2000 he began a historical series for Radio Rebelde, among which stand out those dedicated to Che, where he interviews colleagues who worked with him while he held the position of Minister of Industry.
Currently he serves as Audiovisual Media Specialist at Radio Rebelde, while at Habana Radio he serves as director, scriptwriter, recorder, editor and host of the programs: La Victrola, El Cañonazo, Caminando en la noche and El sonido de las Estrellas.
Among his extensive awards he has the Merit Artist Condition of the Cuban Institute of Radio and Television, Master of Radio Professionals, Cuban Radio Microphone, Caracol Prizes from UNEAC, among many others.
Franklin Reinoso Rivas is part of the history of radio in the province of Villa Clara, who in 1963 began his studies at the ICRT School, where he received classes in directing, announcing, audio and music from great personalities of the media of that era. Upon completing the course he made his debut in the radio world at the CMHW Station in Santa Clara and with his knowledge and creative spirit contributed to revolutionizing programming and making it much more comprehensive.
As Program Director he created and directed spaces from 1964, among them Youth Circle, Music and Youth, Favorite Vocal Groups, Hit Olympics, all with great acceptance among young people.
In 1981 he fulfilled an internationalist mission in Nicaragua where he taught announcing and program direction courses to workers of CORADEP in Managua. In the year 2000 he visited the Picolo Record studios in Montreal, Canada, where he learned the operation of the digitalized PROTOOLS system, which at that time was a significant achievement for radio recordings. In 2011 he digitalized the sound archive, which was in magnetic tapes and acetate records.
He has also been recognized as a creator of radio jingles, spots and program production, as well as the presentation of the station that was created by him and is maintained in his own voice.
He holds the Merit Artist Condition of the ICRT, Radio Microphone, Majadahonda Order as an internationalist artist, Key to the City of Santa Clara, 85th Anniversary Seal of Cuban Radio, Laureate Seal, Raúl Gómez García Medal, Master of Radio Professionals Condition, among many other decorations and awards.
