The Cuban company Acosta Danza will break the inertia imposed by Covid-19 and is preparing today to begin its presentation season, which will soon arrive at the Teatro Real in Madrid, Spain.
During October 22, 23 and 24, the ensemble directed by dancer Carlos Acosta will perform the artistic program Evolution, which brings together half a dozen pieces from its repertoire, created by renowned international choreographers.
In that sense, the works include Satori, by Cuban Raúl Reinoso; Paysage, soudain, la nuit, by Swedish Pontus Lidberg; Twelve, by Spanish Jorge Crecis; Mermaid, by Belgian Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Two, by Russell Maliphant, whose stage productions will be directed by Acosta himself, current director of the Birmingham Royal Ballet (United Kingdom).
According to information provided by the group in a statement, the performances are part of the extensive agenda that the Iberian institution usually offers, in which opera performances, ballet, concerts, recitals and other activities stand out.
Recently the ensemble announced that the presentations on Spanish soil will extend to the Sinfónica Hall of the Auditorio de Tenerife at the end of October, while the Teatro Cervantes will host its performances as part of the Danza Málaga 2021 calendar, which will take place until December.
Conceived as a space in constant experimentation, Acosta Danza integrates the talent of local creators and important exponents of the international scene in the field of choreography, music, design, visual arts and audiovisual, among other manifestations that promote the development of contemporary and innovative performances.
The company, founded in 2015, is made up of about twenty dancers from diverse training backgrounds, which makes it possible to articulate a modern dance discourse that involves different trends and breaks with traditional aesthetics.
In 2017, its Artistic Teaching Group emerged, in which it provides mixed training for three years, which enables students to join any dance collective and through which young people from Venezuela, Colombia, Brazil, Dominican Republic and Spain have passed.
