Cuban canoeists Yarisleidis Cirilo Duboys and Yinnolis Franchesca López claimed the silver medal in the C2-200 meters at the second ICF Canoe Sprint World Cup of 2026, held at the Brandenburg regatta course in Germany from May 14 to 17, 2026.
The Cuban boat crossed the finish line in 43.03 seconds, just 15 hundredths behind the Chinese pair who took gold in 42.88 seconds. The podium was completed by the Uzbekistan crew, who stopped the clock at 43.71 seconds. The performance confirms the outstanding form of the Cuban duo, who are capable of matching the best in the world at short-distance sprint canoeing.
In the individual C1-200 meters, Yarisleidis Cirilo also advanced to the event's Final A — contested by the world's top nine — completing a demanding day for Cuban women's canoe sprint on German water.
The Brandenburg result comes just days after a strong showing at the first World Cup in Szeged, Hungary (May 8–11), where Cirilo and López won gold in the C2-200 meters and Cirilo added silver in the individual C1-200 meters. With this second podium finish in Germany, the Guantánamo pair reaffirm their status as continental benchmarks in short-distance sprint canoeing and cement their position as one of the most consistent duos on the international circuit ahead of the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo 2026.
Yarisleidis Cirilo Duboys, born May 10, 2002, in Baracoa (Guantánamo), is a world champion in the discipline, an Olympic bronze medalist at Paris 2024, and one of the most decisive figures in world canoe sprint in recent years. Her partner Yinnolis Franchesca López, also from Guantánamo, forms alongside Cirilo the most promising duo in Cuban women's canoeing.
