The nominations for the Latin Grammys in its 21st edition include several Cuban artists from both the Island and abroad, ranging from the duo Gente de Zona to the iconic performer Omara Portuondo.

The Latin Recording Academy announced on Tuesday the 29th the list of award candidates, led by three important exponents of urban music: J. Balvin, with 13 nominations; Bad Bunny, with nine; and Ozuna with 8.

Cubans are located in four categories: as Best Traditional Tropical Album appear Changüí Guantánamo, with their album Este es nuestro Changüi; the matancera Orquesta Failde, with Failde con Tumbao; the legendary Orquesta Aragón, with Ícono; and Cuban flutist based in Miami Ernesto Fernández, with Pa' lante.

In the category of Best Urban Song, where exponents of reggaeton such as Ozuna, J Balvin and Rosalía appear, is the Cuban duo Gente de Zona, with their song "Muchacha", which they perform together with Mexican American Becky G.

For her part, Omara Portuondo, who has received several nominations in previous editions of the awards, was included in the Best Contemporary/Tropical Fusion Album category, with her album Mariposas.

Cuban-born Canadian national Alex Cuba is also nominated for Best Singer-Songwriter Album for the album Sublime, which was also included in the technical category Best Recording Engineering for an Album.

The ceremony this year will be held virtually on the upcoming November 19th. However, the awards presentation will be in-person in Miami and will be broadcast that same day through Univision.
