Cuban singer-songwriter Silvio Rodríguez premiered last Thursday afternoon on digital platforms the single "Danzón para la espera", the fourth and final advance from his new album, which will be available on June 12th.
The song comes accompanied by a promotional music video, recorded by the troubadour's daughter, Malva Rodríguez González and hours after its release it has accumulated thousands of views on Youtube.
'This is a clip that my daughter Malva made with a phone, during lockdown. It was going to be a family memento, but I liked it so much that I decided to share it with you', the musician noted. The single's release is part of the promotion for the album "Para la espera", which contains 13 songs, including 10 unreleased ones, composed by the artist in recent years. From the album, "La adivinanza", "Viene la cosa" and "Noche sin fin y mar" are already known.
Rodríguez, who had not released material since 2015 when he released the album "Amoríos", dedicates the album to the memory of several recently deceased friends, including filmmakers Juan Padrón and Tupac Pinilla, singer-songwriters Luis Eduardo Aute and Oscar Chávez, writer Luis Sepúlveda and comedian Marcos Mundstock.
The album was recorded, mixed and mastered at Ojalá studios and will be available on major digital platforms.
With more than twenty albums over four decades of artistic career, Rodríguez is one of the most recognized musicians in and outside of Cuba.
In 2011 the 73-year-old singer-songwriter undertook the "Gira por los barrios" project, an initiative with which he has performed more than 100 concerts in the island's culturally less favored localities.
