Cuban singer Albita Rodríguez overcame coronavirus after being admitted to a hospital in Miami due to the illness, as the artist herself commented on social media.
"I ended up in the hospital because my oxygen dropped significantly and I also had a strong case of pneumonia starting (…) I'm back home now, I feel very well, much better, and I want to thank all of you," Rodríguez said in a message to her followers.
"With your messages, with your prayers, there is truly a big difference and it feels very nice and gives a lot of encouragement, faith and hope. Thank you so much to all of you who took the time to send me such beautiful messages," she added.
Rodríguez said that some of her friends had brought food to her house to encourage her to eat. "It has truly been very important to me, the solidarity and affection from all of you," she expressed.
Similarly, the artist thanked the medical staff who cared for her while she was hospitalized. "They were very professional, very caring and they made my hospital stay a bit more bearable, as much as possible," she said.
Albita was hospitalized after testing positive for COVID-19. An earlier post by Cuban-American producer George Cabrera had detailed that she was stable, in good spirits and "hopeful of leaving soon and returning to the stage."
Following the announcement, her followers and fans wished her a speedy recovery. "Alba Mirna you are a warrior, you will get through this, praying for you already," said one of her admirers.
Born in Havana on June 6, 1962, Albita is a singer and songwriter. After launching an important musical career on the island, she left Cuba in 1989, and has taken her performances to stages in Europe, Latin America, Australia, Africa and Malaysia.
