Cuban Olympic champions Mijaín López and Luis Alberto Orta lead their respective weight categories today and head Latin America in the ranking of the United World Wrestling (UWW).
Just one week after the Tokyo Olympic Games, López and Orta lead with 68 points in the 130 and 60 kilograms, respectively, to stand out among the representatives of the largest of the Antilles in the international standings.
The multi-medalist López returned to the top of the UWW thanks to the conquest of his fourth crown under the five rings in Tokyo and surpasses in the division the Georgian Iakobi Kajaia and the Turkish Riza Kayaalp, who occupy the second and third position with 62 units, in that order.
Another Latin American present in the 130 classification is the Cuban naturalized Chilean Yasmani Acosta, who rose to fifth place with 38 points, after disputing the bronze medal at the major Tokyo event.
For his part, Orta, king in his summer debut, surpasses at the top of the 60 kilos the Russian Sergey Emelin, second with 46 points, and the Japanese Kenichiro Fumita, third at 24 units behind the Cuban gladiator.
In the weight, the Puerto Rican Xavier Medina descended from the second position and appears in the UWW update in sixth place.
After the outcome of the Tokyo Olympic version, Cuba included in the 'top ten' of the 97 kilograms of freestyle, the bronze medalist at that level Reinerys Salas, who improved 10 positions with respect to his previous placement and figures in eighth place.
