Cuban singers Camila Cabello and Yotuel Romero premiered their latest collaboration, "Lola," on digital platforms Wednesday, a song that the young artist has included on her most recent album titled Familia.

"What a moment to sing this with Yotuel for Cuba, for all the Lolas in the world. She wants freedom, she wants Homeland and Life," Cabello wrote on her social media, paraphrasing lines from the track, released by Vevo Official Live Performance.

"Lola was written while the (barricade of the) San Isidro Movement was happening in Cuba. I played it for my choreographers and they told me it felt very sexy. The lyrics talk about a girl who is incredibly intelligent, talented and full of potential, but who can't do anything with her talent because she lives in a country that censors her and doesn't give her opportunities," the 25-year-old singer explained in an interview in March with the Mexican edition of Elle magazine.

In those statements she recounted how she contacted Yotuel and he wrote his part of the song and sent it back to her. "We talked about the reality of a beautiful country that they have wanted to destroy," she said. At a slow pace, more similar to a ballad, Camila Cabello sings in English about a girl who believed in the world that was promised to her, but now is older, has seen people in disagreement disappear, with no energy for days and no food coming, where nothing changes and this is not the dream that was sold to them.

At another moment, Yotuel raps about being promised to be the queen of the Caribbean, but someone changed the movie script for her, and starting over only asks for help, coming from the underworld, about her worth and what she has. That is the price of his Lola when there is no way out, wanting freedom, wanting Homeland and Life.
