The three-time world boxing champion, Lázaro Álvarez Estrada, achieved his third consecutive victory in professional boxing last Friday, after delivering a technical knockout to local Brandom Obledo, during a fight held in Hermosillo, Mexico.
"The Prince" Álvarez, who fights at 135 pounds, finished off Obledo in five rounds and with this victory the Domadores de Cuba franchise extended their winning streak to 14 professional boxing victories.
According to an ESPN report cited by the sports newspaper Jit, the native of Pinar del Río, who is also a three-time bronze medalist at Olympic Games, put on a tremendous exhibition and decided the fight with a barrage of punches and powerful left hands.
Those present at the venue could see how the Cuban, with a dance on the canvas and a festival of punches, accelerated from the first round to overwhelm his opponent, who made him wait until the fifth round to fall out of the fight.
According to Jit, Obledo, 19 years old, came into the bout backed by having won by knockouts in his four previous professional appearances.
According to specialists, while the quality of the rivals could be questionable so far, Cuban boxing has proven overwhelming in its foray into this professional world.
Cuban fighters began their ventures in professional circuits under the Mexican company Golden Ring, which signed an agreement with the Cuban Boxing Federation for their representation in this type of competition.
The newspaper Jit reported that in this month of October four other representatives of the Cuban franchise will step into the ring, namely Roniel Iglesias (147 pounds), Yosbany Veitía (118 pounds), Osvel Caballero (130 pounds) and Arlen López (175 pounds).
