After winning a professional title in his most recent fight, talented Cuban boxer Idalberto Umará made a jump in the ranking of the World Boxing Association (WBA), in one of the toughest divisions that exist in boxing.

Umará is only 22 years old, has devastating punching power and was a junior world champion when he fought for Cuba, but now he has a greater challenge that he has been overcoming: building a career as a professional.

In his most recent fight he won by knockout at Caribe Royale Orlando when the WBA Fedelatin title was at stake and reached 11 victories, of which 8 have come by that means.

Umará's progression has led to, following the update of the organization's ranking, the Cuban boxer appearing as number 10 ranked in one of boxing's toughest divisions, 135 pounds.

In the lightweight division, there are stars like undisputed champion Devin Haney, Gervonta Davis, Vasiliy Lomachenko, Shakur Stevenson, the rising Keyshawn Davis, to name just a few.

Let us remember that, recently, his compatriot Andy Cruz also made his debut in the weight division, who aspires to reign as he did before in the amateur world.

Umará has a lot of talent and had demonstrated it in Cuba, when he was a junior world champion in 2018. At the end of last year, the fighter won the Fedecaribe lightweight title of the World Boxing Association on the KO to Drugs card, at the Caribe Royale Hotel in Orlando and days ago, he added the Fedelatin.

For his rising career, appearing already among the top 10 of the WBA ranking is an important step, something that could mean more important fights for him.
