Ulises Aquino Guerra

Ulises Aquino Guerra. Distinguished baritone, promoter and theatrical director. Founder and general director of the Ópera de la Calle group.

Born in the province of La Habana, Cuba. He began his vocal studies with his father, baritone Rafael Aquino, continued them at the Instituto Superior de Arte with tenor Adolfo Casas, and later became a student of Hugo Marcos and Manuel Pena.

In 1987 he obtained a scholarship to study at the Scala di Milano, where he received advanced classes from Giulietta Simionato, and later, in Spain, master classes from Montserrat Caballé.

In 1985 he joined the Gran Teatro de La Habana, where he debuted in the role of Silvio in the opera Los payasos, by Italian composer Ruggiero Leoncavallo.
