Siro Rodríguez Forneaux

Died: March 29, 1981

Self-taught singer-songwriter with a tenor voice who was part of the Trío Matamoros, serving as the second voice.

A native of Santiago de Cuba. His childhood took place in the Trivolí neighborhood, where he learned the trade of blacksmith.

At a very young age, Pepe Banderas recognized his magnificent singing abilities. In 1913 Sindo Garay presented him for the first time in public at the Oriente theater.

As an adolescent, Sirio had a tenor voice, which allowed him to perform many incidental duets with some of the most prominent Santiago troubadours. From his youth he had a baritone voice, so he began performing as a soloist singing romances and tangos.

Professional Career
In 1925 he joins the legendary Trío Matamoros, in the capacity of exceptional second voice.

He died on March 29, 1981 in La Habana.
