Rubén Gómez Pírez

Born in Matanzas. He studied music with Esther del Castillo. He later became part of various groups as a pianist, performing popular music.

He pursued advanced studies with maestro Justo Ojanguren. He worked in La Habana as an accompanying pianist.

He was a pianist with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Matanzas, starting in 1962, which he later headed on a provisional basis.

He subsequently directed the Escuela Vocacional de Música de Matanzas. As a pianist with the Grupo Lírico matancero, he has composed songs, waltzes, short preludes, and symphonic works.
