Cuban academic and journalist, currently First Vice President of the Union of Journalists of Cuba.
Graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from the University of Havana in 1989. She obtained her Doctorate in Communication Sciences from the University of Havana in 2014. Member of the National Committee of UPEC (1993-2020) and currently First Vice President of that organization. She is an auxiliary professor at the University of Havana and at the International Institute of Journalism "José Martí".
She has received on several occasions the national Journalism prize "Juan Gualberto Gómez", the most relevant in her country for the year's work. She was subdirector of the newspaper Juventud Rebelde until 2002, editor and founder of the digital site La Jiribilla, director of the Cubasí web portal, and editor-in-chief of the Cubadebate web portal from its founding in 2003 until 2017.
She is currently a columnist for the Mexican newspaper La Jornada and collaborates with other national and international media outlets. She directs the "Dominio Cuba" digital innovation project at the Union of Journalists of Cuba.
Her Doctoral Thesis "The Consensus of the Possible: Principles for a Social Communication Policy in the Media Convergence Scenario from the Perspective of Cuban Journalists" received recognition as "Best Thesis in Social Sciences" from the National Commission of Scientific Degrees, of the Ministry of Higher Education, in 2014.

Awards
She receives the National Journalism Prize José Martí (2021) for the work of a Lifetime, the highest individual recognition granted by the organization to professionals of recognized prestige and contribution to Cuban journalism.
