Raúl Taladrid Suárez

Cuban revolutionary. Founder and vice president of ICAIC until 1973. Producer of new Cuban cinema.

Together with his wife, Araceli Herrero, he collaborated with Fidel upon his release from Presidio Modelo.

He and Araceli Herrero were essential pieces for the launch and operation of the first cultural institution founded after the triumph of the Revolution on January 1, 1959, the ICAIC.

One of the founders and Producer of ICAIC. From his position as president of the institution, he exercised determining functions in the field of new Cuban cinema production, eventually achieving the production of 12 Cuban films per year.

Among his multiple responsibilities, he played a leading role in obtaining copies to maintain the country's film programming in the seventies, in addition to holding the position of vice president of ICAIC until 1973.

For more than two decades he served as vice president of the State Committee for Economic Collaboration (CECE) and vice minister in the Ministry for Foreign Investment and Economic Collaboration (Minvec).

Education
Graduate of the School of Commerce, in Economics and French Language, he was a member of the Committee Against Canal Vía Cuba and the Committee for Free Guatemala.

Death
He passed away at the age of 87 on September 12, 2023.
