Muerte: May 30, 2005
Radeúnda Lima was born in the small town of Vueltas, municipality of Camajuaní, in the central region of the country and a stronghold of rural traditions, becoming one of the major figures throughout the 20th century in the interpretation of guajiras, tonadas and sones montunos.
From childhood she sang accompanied by her brother Raúl, a notable lute player, composer and instrumentalist, when she performed on the popular radio program La Corte Suprema del Arte in 1935. They never received any artistic guidance other than from their mother, Carmelina Caso Gómez, who despite not knowing music, was their most severe critic and at the same time, the one who accompanied them on all their travels.
She was part of circus companies such as Santos y Artigas, and produced radio and television programs of rural music.
Radeúnda recorded albums and conducted national concert tours. Among the many accolades she received throughout her life was being elected on several occasions "Queen of the Radio".
Starting in 1961 she began composing and built a catalog of more than a hundred works including sones, montunos, guarachas, guajiras and songs that were popularized by singer Celina González and other interpreters of rural music.
