Identical twin brother of José Canseco, he was born in Cuba and as a child emigrated with his family to the United States.
He is a former Major League player and is currently a hitting and pitching coach for the Yuma Scorpions of the North American independent league.
He had a short life in the Major Leagues, playing 24 games for the Oakland Athletics and St. Louis Cardinals between 1990 and 1993. Unlike his brother, he never hit a home run in the major leagues. Although he did excel in this aspect after leaving the Major Leagues.
He has worked in some television series and like his brother has had some legal problems that have taken him to court.
