Otto Sirgo
Born in La Habana, resident of Mexico, he is an actor and director of telenovelas and Cuban-Mexican theater. He is the son of Magda Haller and is married to Maleni Morales, both actresses.
Born in Cuba. He is the son of Cuban actor Otto Sirgo and Mexican actress Magda Haller. His great-grandmother and maternal grandparents were also actors.
He travels to Mexico with his parents while still a baby.
In the 1960s he begins his Engineering degree, but leaves it a year later. He later enters to study Business Administration, a degree he successfully completes.
He begins his acting career in film with the movie La maestra inolvidable (1968) at age 22.
His trajectory is impressive; he has worked in film, television, and theater and is considered one of the best actors Mexico has.
He enters the world of telenovelas in 1970 with the role of 'Héctor' in La cruz de Marissa Cruces.
Later he participates in the comedy program La cosquilla with Raúl Astor, whom he considers his comedy teacher. After demonstrating that he is a good comedy actor, he participates in No empujen, Sábados locos, and El extraterrestre.
Among the telenovelas he has filmed, the following stand out: Las gemelas, Los Miserables, Rosa Salvaje, Morir para vivir, Alma rebelde, Niña amada mía, Mujer de madera, and Amar sin límites, among others.
In 1984 he directs a telenovela for the first time titled Dos mujeres en mi casa. Ten years later, he returns to directing with Agujetas de color de rosa, which becomes the youth success of the moment. In 1997 he directs the telenovela El alma no tiene color.
By 2008, his trajectory includes more than 40 years of career as an actor, more than 20 theatrical works directed, more than 45 as an actor, around 36 telenovelas, and more than ten feature films.
In 2008, he acted in the telenovela Palabra de Mujer. Some time later he joined the cast of Un gancho al corazón, in which he shares credits with Sebastián Rulli and Danna García. Also that same year he participates in some chapters of the series S.O.S. Sexo y Otros Secretos.
At the end of 2010, Mapat invites him to participate in the telenovela Ni contigo ni sin ti, which premiered in February 2011.
Curiosities
His greatest theatrical success is Pd. Tu gato ha muerto, which he directs and stars in.
He is married to actress Maleni Morales and they have two daughters: Valerie and Tania.
He ventures into the business world with the restaurant La Toscana in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato.
Among his hobbies are cooking and writing poetry.
He considers himself a cold, direct, and orderly man.
He is a fervent defender of theater.
