Olga Alonso González

Died: March 4, 1964

===BODY===
She completed her secondary studies at the School of Commerce of La Habana and at the School of Commerce of El Vedado (La Habana).

In 1961 she entered the School for Art Instructors, where she carried out multiple activities. She graduated in the specialty of theater, with top honors, in September 1963.

In November of that same year she was sent to work at the Mártires de Fomento farm, where she served as a Regional Theater advisor and created amateur groups "Vladimiro Maiakovski", "Folklore", "Chaplin", "Ismaelillos", "Pantomimas", composed of children and adults.

She also created campaigns for proper speech among peasants, promoted the creation of Popular Councils of Culture, served as a teacher in follow-up classrooms, developed young people with the greatest potential as monitors to extend the branches of Art throughout that green region, and created libraries.

On March 4, 1964, while traveling to teach a group of peasants who were surrounded by insurgents in the Escambray, the tractor in which she was traveling broke down, overturned, and she died instantly.

A few weeks before her death she would say: "We only have the right to die when we hand our children the sketch of communism". For this reason, it was decided to declare February 18, the day of her birth, as the Day of the Art Instructor.
