Lester Hamlet Veira Rodríguez

He was born in Ciudad de La Habana, Cuba. He graduated in 1991 from the Escuela de Instructores de Arte specializing in Theatrical Direction. He has studied at the Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión de San Antonio de los Baños and other centers of artistic education. He combines his career as a filmmaker and video producer with his work directing theater, musical performances, and also as an editor.

He is a member of the SGAE (Sociedad General de Autores y Editores de España), a member of UNEAC, of the Movimiento Nacional de Video de Cuba and of the Asociación Cubana de Propagandistas y Publicitarios. He is director of the Festival Internacional del Cine Pobre, based in the city of Gibara, Holguín. His work as a filmmaker has been rewarded with important awards and recognition, especially the 3rd Coral Prize at the Festival Internacional del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano, 33rd edition, for the fictional feature film Fábula.
