Néstor Jiménez Rodríguez

Cuban actor in theater, film, and television.

Néstor is the twin brother of actress Luisa María Jiménez. His beginnings in art are intimately linked to the beautiful town of Trinidad where he spent all of his childhood and much of his adolescence.

Theater instructor Pablo Dalmau planted the seed of acting in both Néstor and his sister Luisa María Jiménez, inviting them to be part of the amateur theater group, in which they participated in the good and unforgettable FEEM festivals.

They won awards at the National Festival held in the City of Havana, which earned them the opportunity to perform in the renowned Hubert de Blanck hall.

At age 17, they entered the National School of Art specializing in Performing Arts.

In the late 1970s and as a preview of the 1978 World Festival of Youth and Students, the youth television program Para Bailar emerged. The producers recruited young people and he was among them.

His role as "El Chino" in the Cuban film Zafiros, locura azul established him; in this role he was able to convey all the anguish, complexity, and risk of such a contradictory personality as that of the leading singer of that legendary quintet.

He has shared the stage several times with his son performing various roles, including that of father-son, for example, Con palabras propias.
