Marco Antonio Rubio García

Marco Antonio Rubio was born in Miami and is a descendant of Cubans. He is an American politician of the Republican Party. Rubio is a member of the Florida House of Representatives and in the 2010 elections he won a seat in the United States Senate for the state of Florida, becoming the first senator of Cuban origin in history.

Rubio is of Cuban origin. He studied at the University of Florida and at the University of Miami, where he obtained his law degree.

Rubio is considered part of the conservative wing of the Republican party. In January 2000 he was elected to the Florida House of Representatives and was between 2006 and 2010 spokesman of the parliament.

In 2010 he won a seat in the United States Senate, being the favorite candidate of the Tea Party movement. The governor of Florida, Charlie Crist, who was also seeking that same seat, renounced his membership in the Republican Party because of this. Rubio's candidacy for the senate has been tarnished by investigations according to which he could have used his Republican party credit card for personal purposes, without having declared these expenses to the tax authority.

Married to Jeanette Dousdebes of Colombian origin. He has four children: Amanda, Daniella, Anthony, Dominic. Rubio is the third child of Cuban exiles Mario Rubio and Oria García and was born in Miami, speaks Spanish very well, his father worked in a bar and his mother was a maid at a hotel in Las Vegas.

He graduated as a lawyer from the University of Florida in 1993
