Senator Marco Rubio recognized Joe Biden as the new president of the United States, following confirmation this Thursday by Congress of the Democrat as the 46th president of the American nation.

Marco Rubio, Republican representative from Florida in the Senate, acknowledged that the electoral process in his country concluded and the victory belongs to the Democrats.

"The 2020 electoral process is complete and regardless of who we voted for, it is time to turn the page. Joe Biden is now officially the president-elect of the United States. May God bless and protect our country and our next president," the senator indicated on his Twitter profile.

The senator of Cuban-American origin is one of the Republican politicians closest to Trump. However, this Wednesday, in light of the assault on the Capitol in Washington, he distanced himself from support for Trump with a message on Twitter indicating that there was nothing to celebrate for those who damaged the image of democracy in the United States.

"There is nothing patriotic about what is happening on Capitol Hill. This is third-world style anti-American anarchy," Rubio said in his post.

The message was understood as a response to posts that President Trump had published on his Twitter account, but which were subsequently removed by the social network and led to the blocking of the president's account.

In the early morning hours of this Thursday, in a speech delivered from the United States Senate, Marco Rubio indicated that he believes politics has driven Americans crazy and made them forget the true value they defend.

"Everyone in this country has lost their minds and we have forgotten that America is not a government, America is not a president, America is not a Congress; America is your family, your faith, your community. That is America," emphasized the Cuban-American senator, who in his most recent message advocates for recognizing defeat and requests blessings for the United States and its new president, Joe Biden.

Marco Rubio also spoke out this Thursday on his Facebook profile against those who drove the violent actions that occurred on January 6 at the Capitol. His message has had thousands of interactions for and against.

"Some deceived you. That the vice president could reject the ballots. That the protests could pass or be used as leverage to force an audit. They knew the truth, but thought it was a great way to get attention and raise funds," Rubio denounced.

The death toll from the disturbances at the Capitol in Washington on January 6 was four people. The chief of the metropolitan police, Robert Contee, said that one of the victims was a woman who was shot by police at the facility and that the other three people died in "medical emergencies".
