Maikel Amelia Reyes Fernández

Cuban actress with a notable career in film, theater, radio, and television; a profession that has earned her the affection and admiration of the public.

She has gained popularity for her character of Major Lucía in the Cuban police series Tras la huella.

She is a native of Manzanillo, daughter of Ciro Antonio Cirito Reyes, who was the first violinist of the Original orchestra of Manzanillo, and Adis D. Fernández, a professor of Spanish and Art History. Her family was always linked to the arts and in a city with a vast culture, something that was essential and decisive in her artistic formation.

Influenced by art since childhood, her first steps were in music. She studied piano at the Manuel Navarro Luna Academy. A few years later, she completed elementary level in the specialty of Painting and Drawing at the Carlos Enrique School of Plastic Arts.

She graduated in Radio, Film, and Television Direction from FAMCA (Faculty of Audiovisual Media Arts) in the city of Holguín.

Maikel Amelia began working in radio at a very young age, in programs from the radio station of her hometown, Radio Granma. During her career years she has ventured into the most diverse facets of the performing arts. She was part of the theater group Ategua and the theater group Cimarrón and has worked both for film and television.

Her first national-level production was the telenovela Aquí estamos, in which she played the character Katia. In Santa María del Porvenir she had her first leading role in a telenovela, as María Fernanda. She was part of the cast in other telenovelas such as La otra esquina (as Marcia) and En tiempos de amar (as Laura).

Although her portfolio includes diverse performances in series, teleplays, telenovelas and in films such as Los próceres, La emboscada and Bailando con Margot, among many others.

She has become an actress very close to the public for her outstanding presence in the police series Tras la huella, in the role of Major Lucía.

Her artistic-professional versatility allows her to assume any role, from innocence to evil. She confesses to feeling happy with how she has been able to grow in her profession and is a promoter of daily learning.
