Luis Robert Moirán Jr. was born on August 3, 1997, in Ciego de Ávila, Cuba. He is a center fielder for the New York Mets of Major League Baseball (MLB), widely regarded as one of the best defensive outfielders in the game and a standout among Cuban-born players in the major leagues.

Robert defected from Cuba in 2019 and signed a six-year, $50 million contract with the Chicago White Sox, making his MLB debut on July 24, 2020. In his first full season in 2021, he was selected to the American League All-Star team and won the Gold Glove Award as a center fielder, establishing himself as one of the most exciting young talents in baseball.

His career in Chicago was repeatedly interrupted by injuries, but when healthy he consistently displayed a rare five-tool skill set: elite speed, power, arm strength, contact hitting, and exceptional defense.
