Luis Felipe Díaz

Luis Felipe Díaz, before his death, was a pitching assistant for the Industriales baseball team.

A left-hander with respectable velocity on his fastballs, he participated in 16 National Series, in which he won 86 games, lost 103, and posted a 4.93 earned run average per nine innings, according to the 2013 Baseball Guide.

Born in 1971 in the Pinar del Río municipality of Consolación del Sur, as a young man he settled here in Centro Habana. He was one of the members of the Cuban team in the university world championship that this capital organized in 1998.

Tireless in transmitting his knowledge to new generations, at the time of his death he was the architect of the pitching staff of the Industriales team, which was in fourth place in the National Baseball Series.

Good-natured, with a pragmatic philosophy of life, Luis Felipe leaves a lasting mark on the pitching of the capital.

He died in Havana on February 27, 2014 from a heart attack.
