She was born in La Habana. She began her musical studies at age seven at the Conservatorio «Carlos A. Peyrellade» (piano) and later at Conservatorio «Amadeo Roldán» (clarinet with Enrique Pardo, singing with Zoila Gálvez, Manuel Llanes, David Rendón, Digna Guerra).
She perfected her vocal technique in Caracas, Venezuela, with Véra Rosza, Antonio Tonini, Osvalda Alemanno and at the Instituto Curtis, New York, with Rachel Adonaylo.
She performed as an amateur in the 1970s. She made her professional debut with the Teatro Lírico Nacional de Cuba in La traviata (Violetta, 1977).
She participated in the premiere of the definitive version of Amalia Batista (Carmita and r. t.), directed by its author, Rodrigo Prats (1979) and sang a Marina (r. t.), in 1980.
That same year she left Cuba and settled in Caracas, Venezuela, where she has carried out intense work as a performer and pedagogue. Her very extensive repertoire includes preferentially works by Mozart —Donna Anna, the Condesa Almaviva, Fiordiligi, Elettra (from Idomeneo)—, Verdi — Il trovatore, La forza del destino, Don Carlos, Macbeth, Ernani, Nabucco, Attila, Requiem—, Puccini —La Bohème (Mimì and Musetta), Tosca, Madama Butterfly, Il tabarro, Suor Angelica, Turandot (r. t.)—.
During her visits to her native land, she has performed as a guest artist of TLNC in Tosca (r. t., tour of Spain and Portugal, 1995), María la O (r. t., 1996) and Cavalleria rusticana (Santuzza, 1997).
She is a vocal technique professor at the Taller de Ópera de Caracas. She directed the children's chorus of the Ópera Metropolitana de Caracas.
