Luís Manuel García Méndez

University professor, researcher and journalist. Resides in Spain. Born in the province of La Habana.

His short stories and poems have received awards and mentions in various national competitions and have been published in magazines and newspapers.

He has published, among other titles, the short story collections:

Sin perder la ternura (La Habana, 1987);
Los forasteros (La Habana, 1989);
The poetry collections:

Un asombre pendiente (Murcia, 1994; La Habana, 1995);
Utopiario (León, 2003);
The novel:

El restaurador de almas (Valencia, 2002).
Awards and distinctions

His short stories and poems have received awards and mentions in various national competitions.

In 1990 he obtained the Casa de las Américas award for short story with Habanecer (La Habana, 1992).
The National Criticism Award and published in Spain in 2005 by the Mono Azul Editora imprint.
International award for narrative in Spanish Vicente Blasco Ibáñez.

Winner of first prize in the open category of the thirty-fifth edition of the Emiliano Barral Short Story Competition, 2013 for the short story titled 'Coquetería'.
