Linda Mirabal Jean Claude

Born in Haiti. She is the daughter of Haitian singer Martha Jean-Claude, who is based in Cuba.

From the beginning, Linda has combined her musical vocation (studies of oboe and singing with Margarita Horruitiner and Zoila Gálvez, among others, and holds a degree in Music from the Instituto Superior de Arte) with dramatic acting.

She worked as a puppeteer at the Teatro Nacional de Guiñol
—Cecilia Valdés (1975)— and later worked in the Buscón group.

Blessed with a beautiful soprano voice, she joined the Teatro Lírico Nacional de Cuba in 1982. She performed in the productions of Los payasos (1982), La viuda alegre (1987), El teléfono (1988), La leyenda del beso (1988) and Aida (1988), among others. She has also performed with the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional, Beethoven's Ninth Symphony (1981) and Michel Legrand's Concertoratorio, the first performance in Cuba, conducted by the composer (1989).

For several years she has been developing her lyric career in Spain, performing important roles throughout Europe alongside prestigious international figures. In 1994 she performed the role of Aurora la Beltrana, alongside Plácido Domingo, in the recording of Doña Francisquita directed by Miguel Roa, for Sony. She has acted in the filming of several Cuban films.

She has an extensive repertoire of songs, lieder, opera, operetta, zarzuela, oratorios, cantatas and musical dramas that she has presented in the finest halls and theaters of Cuba and the world. She has received awards and numerous national and international recognitions.
