Lilo Vilaplana is a Cuban film director, screenwriter, producer, and teacher based in Miami. Born in Nuevitas, Camagüey, in 1965, he began his career in Cuba as an assistant director on children's television in 1988 before building an international career across film and television.
He is widely known for work such as the Colombian series El Capo, which earned him the India Catalina Prize and the TVyNovelas award for Best Director in 2010. Vilaplana now brings that experience to the Miami Film Festival 2026 with the world premiere of Eva y Adán en Miami.
