Josué Tacoronte Otero

Born in La Habana, Cuba, Josué Tacoronte graduated in concert classical guitar from the Conservatorio de Música "Amadeo Roldan". As a professional instrumentalist, he participates and obtains National Awards in the Amadeo Roldán Competitions, as well as Performance Awards in the Guillermo Tomás Competition. He has been a member of the Unión Nacional de Escritores y Artistas de cuba UNEAC since 2001.

In 1997 he ventured into the flamenco genre as a performer, composer and arranger, becoming part of the Ballet Español de Cuba, a company for which he created its main compositions and arrangements, such as "Carmen", "la Habana Valdez", "Tras las Huellas", "Yo te quiero", "Flamenco Vivo", "Flamenco en Concierto", "Invocación a la Danza", "El Cargador de Sueños", among others.

In December 2001, he performed a Guitar Concert at the Teatro Amadeo Roldan where he performed a concert in tribute to maestro Leo Brouwer, interpreting part of his work adapted to flamenco. He has performed recitals in different concert halls, both in Cuba and in Spain, Morocco, France, Mexico and Peru.

Since March 2001 he joined Proart as a teacher in the guitar area, in addition to being the musical composer and performer of the Musicians Group of the Ballet Español Proart Company. He is currently Director of the Music Area of Centro Proart.

Musical Director of Tecnológico de Monterrey campus Querétaro in 2003, working as a Guitar, Choir, Musical Ensemble teacher, and arrangements and staging for the musical comedy "La mujer del Panadero" which was a winner at the National level.

He participated in the International Festival of Spanish Dance "Ibérica Contemporánea 2007 and 2009", where he directed the musicians group of the Ballet Español Proart Company in the opening shows held at the Teatro de la República. Within the framework of the same festival, he performed some of his own works at the opening of the Guitar Recital by Spanish guitarist José Antonio Rodríguez at the Antigua Casa Mota in the historic center of Querétaro and also alongside maestro José Luís Rodríguez.

As musical director and composer of the Ballet Español Proart Company, he has performed in different venues throughout the Republic with the works "Compás al Aire", "Expresión Flamenca" and "Callejones de Sombra", sharing the stage with various internationally renowned artists such as María Juncal, Joaquín Grilo, Manolo Marín, Cristóbal Reyes, Pedro Sierra, Joaquín Ruiz, Raquel Ruiz, Antonio Rey, among others.

He has also composed music for the works "De fiesta en fiesta", "Flor sin raíz", "Sueños de infancia", "Imágenes de España", "Memorias de una plaza", "Encuentros" and "El sonido de lo nuestro". He has received courses and master classes with guitarists David Russell, Costa Coscioli, Leo Brower, Jesús Ortega, Antonio Rey, José Antonio Rodríguez, Paco Jarana, Jesús Torres, José Luís Rodríguez, Gerardo Núñez, Eduardo Rebollar, Pedro Sánchez.

In 2006 he performed the Musical Direction, composition and arrangements for the show "MEXTIZO", which he presented with the Ballet Español Proart Company with a different perspective, reviving the richness of our culture, fusion of roots, through the art of dance and music, and which has been presented in the city of Querétaro, as well as in different national forums such as the Centro Nacional de las Artes, and in the Festival del Desierto del Altiplano Potosino, international cultural festival of Zacatecas, international festival Ibérica Contemporánea.

In 2007 he released his first recording production titled "Josué Tacoronte y SKPAO" with the objective of unifying styles and musical eras, highlighting Latin and Iberoamerican popular and traditional culture such as bolero, son, jazz, flamenco and concert music which have formed the basis of his studies and artistic training. He has performed in different forums in the city of Querétaro as well as at El Teatro America in the city of La Habana and El Teatro Terry in the city of Cienfuegos, sharing the stage with Janet Rodriguez, Danny Villalonga, Manolo del Valle, Liuba Maria Hevia among others, as special guests of this Musical project. He has collaborated on various recording productions as a performer and arranger on "Iluminame" by Liuba Maria Hevia, "Puntos suspensivos" by Jorge Peart, pop group "Ragazzi", among others.

He currently works as Director of the Spanish dance company "Mexico Flamenco". As well as holding the position of General Director of the Music and Dance Academy "Ensamble".

In 2013 he won the CubaDisco award for his CD Brouwer Flamenco
