José Luis Rodríguez García

Cuban academic. Degree in Economics, Doctor in Economic Sciences, Senior Researcher, Full Professor, Professor Emeritus. Minister of Economy and Planning of Cuba during the hardest years of the so-called Special Period. He was also Vice President of the Council of Ministers and member of the Council of State. Member of the Scientific Council of the Institute of International Relations "Raúl Roa Kourí". Specialist in Cuban Economy and International Economic Relations.

Full Professor at the Superior Institute of Design, at the Center for the Study of Economy and Planning and at the National Defense College.

Throughout his long career as a professor, he has taught the following disciplines: Political Economy, Philosophy, International Economic Relations, Cuban Economy; Introduction to the Economic Policy of the Cuban Revolution; Introduction to the Study of the Economy of Socialist Countries.

Co-author of several textbooks and author of The Development Strategy of the Cuban Revolution (1988).

Tireless researcher in economic matters, he has contributed decisively to the training of economists in Cuba based on his experience and depth in the treatment of these issues and with the characteristics of globalization processes, neoliberalism, global economic crisis, among others.

He works at the Center for Research on the World Economy (CIEM), has participated in innumerable seminars and forums of an economic nature worldwide. He possesses a vast body of published work on aspects of World Economy, Globalization and Economic Policy. He has been the recipient of various awards and decorations.

Among the responsibilities of the award recipient, his exercise as Minister of Economy and Planning of Cuba stands out during the hardest years of the so-called Special Period.

He also served as Vice President of the Council of Ministers and member of the Council of State. He was also part of the Scientific Council of the Institute of International Relations "Raúl Roa Kourí" and is a specialist in Cuban Economy and International Economic Relations.
