Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the University of La Habana in 1991, he has obtained numerous awards. He resides in La Habana. He is a narrator. Graduate of the I Course in Narrative Techniques from the Onelio Jorge Cardoso Literary Training Center of La Habana.

Yoss obtained the second prize in the 2007 Science Fiction Contest of Revista Juventud Técnica with the short story El rostro de Gaya. His most recent collection of short stories published by Letras Cubanas (2010) belongs to the so-called dirty realism: El gran arte de vestirse cheo durante toda una vida.

He won the Hemingway Prize in 1993 and the Farraluque (for erotic short story) in 2002. He is the author of the history collections Timshel, W, Precio Justo and the novels Polvo Rojo and Morfeo verdugo. He lives in La Habana, where he is the lead singer of the heavy rock band, Tenaz.

Among his short stories we can mention: "Los delfines no son tiburones" (1988); "Rufus el suicida" (1994); "Fábula de ángeles" (1994 and 1995); "Balsatur S.A." (1995); "Reina es la noche" (1995); "Despertarte, sentirte, pensar" (1996); "Carne de cercanía" (1996); "W" (1997); "Círculos del dolor" (1999); "Los espacios en blanco" (1998); "Palindromagia" (1999); "La causa que refresca" (1997); "Cubaníssimos" (2000); "Estática" (2000); "Punto de vista" (2001); "Kaishaku" (2002); "Las chimeneas y Las interferencias" (2003) and "El guardián" (2003). He has also published two novels: Se alquila un planeta (2002) and Al final de la senda (2003).

His work 'Super extra grande' won the first prize of the XX UPC Science Fiction Contest 2010, endowed with 6,000 euros and digital publication of the work by Edicions UPC within its new Culture collection.
