José Joaquín Valdés Zayas

Born in La Habana, Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery in 1846.

He belonged to the Academy of Medical, Physical and Natural Sciences of La Habana.

According to Carlos M. Telles, «he was the first to practice in Cuba the reproduction of the elbow bones by the periosteum».

He emigrated abroad in 1869 and died in La Habana, in 1894.
