José Antonio Peraza Correa

Born into a humble family. He begins his primary studies in a neighborhood classroom, later enrolling in the "Academia Garcia" where he starts in 4th grade until completing primary education.

He continues Basic Secondary Education at the "José Martí" school in Centro Habana, where he takes 7th grade. Subsequently, in 1961 he joins the Literacy Campaign and upon his return he enrolls to continue secondary studies at the Basic Secondary School "Carlos Marx" in Siboney on a scholarship. After completing 9th grade, he continues at the same school, which has been converted into IPU "Carlos Marx," where he finishes his studies in 1967, graduating as a Bachelor in Sciences and Letters.

He enrolls in Medicine at the ICBP "Victoria de Girón" where he takes the first two years of the program, later transferring to the General University Hospital "Calixto Garcia" where he completes his final year as a vertical intern in Otorhinolaryngology, graduating as a Doctor of Medicine in 1974.

He begins his medical practice with postgraduate work in the city of Guantánamo where he remains for two years specializing in Otorhinolaryngology (1974-1976).

In 1976 he completes his postgraduate studies and joins the Teaching Clinical Surgical Hospital "Dr. Salvador Allende" where he takes his residency in ENT, graduating as a 1st Degree Specialist in 1978.

In 1978 he completes an internationalist mission in the Republic of Guinea Bissau until 1980, during which he holds the position of 2nd Chief of the Medical Brigade in that country.

After completing the mission he returns to Hospital Dr. Salvador Allende where in 1981 he is appointed Head of the Otorhinolaryngology Department, a responsibility he holds until 1983 when he is promoted to Surgical Vice Director of the Center, a position he holds continuously until April 2006.

During these years he is appointed Instructor at the Dr. Salvador Allende Faculty, achieving the rank of Associate Professor and later attaining the rank of 2nd Degree Specialist in ENT. Member of the Rector's Advisory Commission on Specialization.

In 2007 he achieves the degree of Master in Satisfactory Longevity. He has participated in National and International Events, being a founder of the Iberoamerican Academy of Otorhinolaryngology.

In 1994 he becomes part of the National Group and from 1990 to 2007 he serves as treasurer of the Cuban Society of Otorhinolaryngology; currently he is Vice Treasurer of the society and a member of its governing board. He has been part of the organizing committee of the IV, V, VI and VII congresses of Otorhinolaryngology. He has been several times a National, Provincial and Municipal Vanguard.
