Doctor of Technical Sciences, Hernández Pérez, one of the architects of the project and construction of the Bacunayagua bridge.
While still studying the third year of his Civil Engineering degree, Hernández Pérez was asked to collaborate in calculating that bridge and participate in its construction.
As a consequence of the exodus of professionals, in 1961 he began teaching Structural Engineering at the University of Havana, work that he did not abandon throughout his working life.
He carried out notable projects, such as the hangar at Ciudad Libertad, the National Aquarium, the Itabo hotel, in Santa María del Mar, the University of Matanzas and, in Germany, the Georg Shafer Museum and the Berlin gallery.
He received Diploma of High-Level Professional - Year 2002 from the National Union of Architects and Engineers of Construction of Cuba, UNAAIC.
