Jan Cruz

Jan Cruz was born in the city of Santa Clara. He is a young Cuban singer-songwriter, graduated in the specialty of electric bass from the National School of Art.

Since childhood he felt attracted to the arts, as he dreamed of being a painter and it wasn't until he was 14 years old that he changed his mind, when he went to the cultural center of his hometown, looking for a fine arts teacher and found nothing but a guitar teacher, from then on he fell in love with music and all its facets.

From his early years of study he became interested in musical composition and by the age of 16 he began to create his first songs. He has written songs for other artists and has composed incidental music for television, short films, and advertising.

Also from an early age, he began to collaborate as a bassist and backing vocalist with various musical groups and performers from our country such as: Polito Ibáñez, Santiago Feliú, Rochy Ameneiro, Anabell López, Raúl Paz, Descemer Bueno, among others.

His first recording as a singer-songwriter is "Mi propia paz". This is an independent production that contains 11 songs, all of his own authorship, where he also participates as a bassist, arranger, and music producer.
In this album one can perceive a very well achieved blend of pop sounds with touches of rock, country, and blues; these being the genres that predominate in the repertoire he performs in his concerts.

He has participated as a guest singer-songwriter in the national tours of Polito Ibáñez and Rochy Ameneiro, and Ernesto Blanco.

He has participated in benefit concerts organized by UNICEF to raise funds for the reconstruction of schools, and has also collaborated in performances and other events that support the fight against violence toward women and girls. He belongs to the RIAM (Ibero-American and African Network of Masculinities) and is part of the artists who support the fight against gender violence.

In 2014 he began his solo career as a singer-songwriter and since then his career has been on the rise in terms of recognition and public preference.

He confesses that he identifies with all music genres as long as they do not imply forced performance, as he attributes all importance to creating with the heart, and with one hundred percent sincerity.

Jan Cruz has made two recording productions, one independent and another under the BisMusic label.

The first of these, "Mi propia paz," was his initial experience as a singer-songwriter, producer, and arranger. He reveals that the most beautiful part of this work was the support and trust given by the friends who participated in the recording.

The second work, "Aviones de papel," earned the Cubadisco 2017 award in the Pop Album category. This time he collaborated with three renowned artists such as David Demaría, Daymé Arocena, and Diana Fuentes.
