Journalist and television presenter of Cuban television, originally from Santiago de Cuba.
Irma completed her primary and secondary studies at the Ciudad Escolar 26 de Julio, in Santiago de Cuba. She enrolled in 1976 at the Instituto de Idiomas Warner Moro Pérez, where she was part of the School's Polyphonic Choir and participated in several Provincial and National Festivals of the Federación Estudiantil de la Enseñanza Media (FEEM) and the Federación de Estudiantes Universitarios (FEU).
In 1980 she graduated with top honors as an English Teacher. She was placed at the Vocacional Antonio Maceo to complete her social practice.
In 1990 she graduated as a Bachelor of Education in the English specialty from the Instituto Superior Pedagógico Frank País García.
At the end of 1983 she began as an apprentice announcer at the Emisora Instrumental Radio Siboney, in Santiago de Cuba and in 1984 she obtained the official position after being evaluated by a Provincial Commission.
In 1985 she was hired by Tele Turquino to work on a Youth Program directed by Díaz Cominches, alongside Rafael Serrano and Mileidys Ochoa. She was also an announcer for other informative, cultural and scientific television programs.
In 1987 she ventured for the first time into the entertainment world as presenter of the Cabaret Roof Garden at the Hotel Casa Granda, in Santiago de Cuba, directed by Maestro Andrés Gutiérrez. During 1988 she was called again by the Telecentro to work as host of the Santiago Informative Magazine, so she opted for a dual work arrangement.
In 1991 the Cabaret Tropicana Santiago opened and she was its bilingual presenter for five years and with it she conducted two international tours (1993 Jamaica, and 1995 Germany, Austria and Switzerland). Due to health issues she had to step away from this work.
In 1996 she moved to Ciudad de la Habana. Already in the capital she worked with the TURARTE Entertainment Company as bilingual presenter of the Cabaret Parisién at the Hotel Nacional de Cuba and also began working in TV Nacional as an announcer (Cabinas, Palmas y Cañas, Te veré Hoy).
During 1998 she traveled to Canada for four months with the Cabaret Parisién Show. In December of that year she was evaluated as an announcer by the National Commission of Radio and TV and obtained First Level.
In 1999 she enrolled in the Faculty of Communication in a Diploma in Journalism Reorientation, which she completed in July 2000. She was hired as a journalist and announcer for the Information System of Cuban Television, beginning an upward career path.
In 2006 she began as a journalist for the Informative Round Table conducting bilingual telephone interviews with various personalities from around the world. In March 2008 she traveled to Timor Leste to cover the medical and educational work of Cubans in that country and in 2009 she carried out this work in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
