Hugo Celso Pérez Rojas

Academic, Doctor of Physical-Mathematical Sciences, Full Professor, Senior Researcher. Has actively collaborated in the promotion of Exact Sciences in Cuba and in other Third World countries.

He primarily developed courses in Classical Mechanics, Electrodynamics, Quantum Mechanics, and Statistical Physics. Director of the School of Physics and Head of the Department of Theoretical Physics at the Institute of Fundamental Technical Research of the Academy of Sciences of Cuba.

In 1962, from the School of Physics, he had the honor of teaching a Mathematics course to Comandante Ernesto Che Guevara. Currently he is Head of the Department of Theoretical Physics at the Institute of Cybernetics, Mathematics and Physics of CITMA.

His contributions span various topics within quantum field theory and statistical physics. He has published approximately eighty research papers and about fifteen works on science education and outreach.

He chaired the preparatory committee for the establishment of the Cuban Society of Physics and actively participated in the preparations for the First joint Soviet-Cuban space flight.

Member of the Academy of Sciences of Latin America (ACAL), the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World (TWAS), the Committee of Physics and Astronomy of the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World (TWAS), the International Center of Theoretical Physics, the Cuban Society of Physics, the Mexican Society of Physics, the American Physical Society. Specialty of work: Theoretical Physics and Mathematical Physics.

Has contributed to the training of professors at pedagogical universities in more than six provinces and to the preparation of students for knowledge and skills competitions through courses, training sessions, lectures, articles, and mentorship of doctoral theses.
